THE OPPORTUNITY

The Accountant will be the custodian of our financial records and a key partner to management. You will keep our books accurate and up to date, manage the money flowing through our property and facility management portfolios, ensure we meet every tax and statutory obligation, and turn the numbers into clear reports that guide decision-making.

This role suits a detail-driven, trustworthy accounting professional who enjoys order, takes ownership of deadlines, and wants hands-on exposure to the finances of a growing real estate business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Bookkeeping & Financial Records
  • Maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date books of account using our accounting software.
  • Record and monitor all income and expenditure, including consulting and advisory fees, management fees, rent and service charge collections.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile client, tenant, vendor and contractor accounts.
  • Maintain proper supporting documentation for all transactions, including invoices, receipts, payment vouchers and contracts.
  1. Property & Client Account Management
  • Track rent and service charge billing, collections and arrears across managed properties, and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Manage and account for client and landlord funds separately and transparently, and prepare periodic statements for property owners.
  • Process payments to facility vendors, contractors and service providers in line with approved budgets and procedures.
  • Raise client invoices promptly and monitor receivables and payables.
  1. Financial Reporting, Budgeting & Control
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow reports and annual financial statements.
  • Prepare and monitor departmental and property-level budgets, highlighting variances and recommending corrective action.
  • Oversee petty cash, expense claims and internal financial controls.
  • Advise management on budgetary control, cost management and financial planning.
  1. Tax, Payroll & Compliance
  • Compute and file statutory returns on time, including VAT, Withholding Tax, PAYE and Company Income Tax, in line with current Nigerian tax laws.
  • Process monthly payroll inputs and remit statutory deductions (PAYE, pension and other contributions).
  • Liaise with federal and state tax authorities, banks and other regulators as required.
  • Prepare schedules and support internal and external audits, and implement audit recommendations.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Education: Minimum of HND or B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification: (ICAN, ACCA or equivalent), full or in progress, is an advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience. Experience in real estate, property management or facility management is an advantage.
  • Technical Knowledge: Sound understanding of accounting principles, IFRS-based financial reporting and Nigerian tax and statutory requirements.
  • Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Zoho Books or similar) and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Core Competencies: Strong analytical and numerical skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Personal Attributes: Impeccable integrity, discretion with financial information, professionalism, and good communication and organisational skills.
  • Residence: Candidates residing within or close to Ikoyi and its environs are preferred.
